Raised by a family of actors and other entertainment professionals, August learned the essence of story and performance from a very early age. As both of his parents were Broadway actors, August spent most of his time as a youth surrounded by some of the most colorful and talented artists the business has to offer.
Following in his parent’s footsteps, August participated in many school performances and plays up until taking his first film class junior year of high school. This class was August’s introduction to the art form of film. Uncovering films like Run Lola Run, Pulp Fiction and Breathless, August learned what makes the true essence of a film director, what it means to be an auteur and the basic yet beautifully essential elements of story-telling. After taking that one class and studying an array of beautiful films from all over the world, August knew he had to be a filmmaker.
Due to 9/11, skyrocketing tuition fees and August’s own assessment of his maturity, he decided to join the Navy after high school. Never losing sight of his goal to attend NYU film school, August spent six years in the Navy as a nuclear reactor operator hoping to attend NYU using the GI bill. After being honorably discharged in 2010, August attended Columbia University for a year and was then accepted into NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. 2 years and 3 films later, August graduated with honors and is currently finishing his thesis film, The War at Home about an Iraq combat veteran who comes home after witnessing the death of one of his childhood friends.
August has recently been directing, producing and editing commercials as well as line-producing the feature film, Rerun, in coordination with Stonestreet Studios, NYU's screen-acting conservatory. He is also working on a number of his own projects in various stages of production.
